Great utility – Powershell script – for building a SharePoint 2010 / 2013 install source including prerequisites, service packs, language packs & cumulative updates.

I have only tried for SP2010 though….

Few notes:

1) language pack sp1

As I’m Czech my culture settings are cs-cz. I had to add a download URL for the Language Pack SP1 package to the AutoSPSourceBuilder.xml (see below in red). I posted it on codeplex, so by the time you are reading this post, it might have been already fixed.

<LanguagePack Name=”cs-cz” Url=”http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/B/6/7B67B8FC-81C6-446A-9681-897C0888D592/ServerLanguagePack.exe”>                <ServicePacks><ServicePack Name=”SP1″ Url=”http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/0/1/80196546-CC61-4276-A082-25F2D7DA17AE/spflanguagepack2010sp1-kb2460059-x64-fullfile-cs-cz.exe” /></ServicePacks>

if you haven’t done that, download the sp1 for the language pack and extract it like this:

serverlanguagepack2010sp1-kb2460056-x64
-fullfile-cs-cz.exe /extract:C:\temp

2) syntax

  • run in an elevated powershell host
  • don’t use spaces in paths
  • quote the paths
  • don’t do this when on slow Internet connection

.\AutoSPSourceBuilder.ps1 -SourceLocation “X:\Install\originalSP2010DVD” -Destination “X:\Install\upToDateInstallSourceSP2010 -UpdateLocation X:\Install\SharePoint_2010_Prerequisites -GetPrerequisites $true -CumulativeUpdate “October 2012
” -Languages cs-cz, en-us -OWASourceLocation “X:\Install\Office_Web_Apps_DVD”
